What's in my Learning Map?
Three Weaving Paths

Why?
What does it mean for this Masters degree to be Open? Why activate your existing community and create your own structures of accountability around your learning when their are plenty of institutions with many years of experience in doing this for you? Why are you learning what you are learning?

The change we seek will not be learned in the classroom. The roles we wish to play (Mentor, Medicine Woman, Cultural Agent, Community Minister, Regenerative Buisness Man, Initiator) are not credentialed programs. We must learn again how to teach each other the ways of learning outside of the educational institutions, where growth and accountability can be found in every relationship, where young and old listen each other into their fullness, and we can (without needing to ask permission) compose a life of learn what we need in order to give our truest gifts in service of our community. My Open Masters is an investment in this Open System of education. I believe that this is how we will ride this evolutionary wave into a more beautiful world, so I'm walking this path in order to make it that much more safe and possible to tread for those who come after me.

Once I left college and figured out what debt meant, I vowed to not incur more debt. This time as I go back to school, I'm choosing to be indebted to my friends and family. Is it possible to learn the skills to realize the unique purpose I have without going into massive monetary debt? I hope so.

What is the education that helps people grow deeper into their humanity, their love, wonder, imagination, wisdom-seeking, soul dancing self. I want to host young people in the growth of their soul. I'm learning Spiritual Counseling in order to support their capacity for truth telling and imagination in times of uncertainty and struggle. I'm learning Community Ministry in order to have a community that they can launch learning journeys from and come back to at the end. A community that is actively engaged in the practice of a Regenerative Culture, challenging Neocolonialim and racism with bold embodied visions of what it could mean to be human

The Nice thing about designing ones own learning is that you can customize it to exactly how you joyfully learn.

4 years of trying to practice 3000 years of western thought by reading and applying taught me that I don't learn by applying theory. 4 months of biking down the west coast and then sharing the story taught me that I learn much more by making meaning of my direct experience. All of the courses of study in this Open Masters start and end with direct experience.

Financially: CSL (community supported learning). Just like a CSA where you pay a certain amount of money at the beginning of the season and then get a portion of the harvest, I will be launching a crowdfunding campaign to cover some of my expenses for my Ancestral Journey and sending out a harvest of songs, soundscapes from the land, music videos in strange and beautiful places, every month while I'm journeying.

Riding the horse backwards: Throughout my life I've found the way forward by looking backwards. I have more guidance for the path ahead by connecting with my ancestors and their land. I learn about how black and white people move forward in solidarity by looking back at Slavery and the makings of American capitalism.

All levels. An integration of the Personal, Interpersonal, Group, Systemic, Cultural, and Mythic levels. Because I can.
